Pelvic Physiotherapy

Pelvic Physiotherapy focuses on problems in the pelvis, abdomen and pelvic floor. These can occur in men, women and children. The pelvic floor is a muscle at the bottom of the pelvis that supports the abdominal organs, including the bladder, while also contributing to the stability of the pelvis.
Learning to identify and train your muscles
The pelvic physiotherapist helps you to identify, train and relax the muscles around your pelvis, while also advising you on: posture, workload, toilet habits, drinking and eating behaviour as well as support aids such as a pelvic band.
Pelvic physiotherapy can help with the following complaints:
- In case of unintentional loss of urine or stool
- When it is difficult to urinate
- In case of pelvic instability, for example during pregnancy and after childbirth.
Children with pelvic or pelvic floor complaints are treated by the pediatric physiotherapist at the following locations:
- Praktijk Fysio de Kolk, SMC De Kolk in Oostzaan
- Praktijk Fysiomeer in Landsmeer
Adults are referred to Karolien Steijaert in SMC De Kolk.
